Payment and delivery methods within Shopify Bill Pay

Through Shopify Bill Pay, you can pay your bills using Shopify Balance, a bank transfer, a credit card, or a debit card. You can then choose to have your vendors paid by either a bank transfer or a check for domestic bills, or as an international wire transfer for international bills. This lets you be more flexible in how you pay your bills, while still letting your vendors be paid in the method that works for them.

Your payment methods

You can use the following methods to pay your bills using Shopify Bill Pay.

How your payment methods display on your statements

On your bank account or credit card statements, Shopify Bill Pay payments are listed with the vendor's name and "melio", such as "[Vendor Name] melio CCD". The vendor name isn't always listed, but "melio" is always listed.

You can have your vendors receive your payments in the following ways.

* The delivery speed starts from when the payment is processed, not necessarily the day the payment is deducted. Payments are processed only once per day before 11:30 am ET. This means that any payments submitted after 11:30 am ET begin processing the next day. For example, a payment that takes one business day that is paid at 1:30 pm ET on a Monday isn't processed until Tuesday morning, and so won't arrive at the vendor's account until one business day from Tuesday, which would be Wednesday.

How your payment information is displayed to vendors

When you begin using Shopify Bill Pay, let your vendors know that you're changing your payment process. Review the following details of the delivery methods to that you can advise your vendors on what to expect.

Bank transfers

On your vendor's bank statements, Shopify Bill Pay payments are listed with your business name and "melio", such as "[Your business name] melio CCD". Your business name isn't always listed, but "melio" is always listed.

Paper checks

Paper checks are addressed to your vendor and contain your business name and address. The bank account numbers are Melio's, Shopify Bill Pay's partner, so your own banking information is never shared with the vendor.

Reasons a payment might be unsuccessful

Payments can fail for many reasons, either from the payment method or the delivery method.

Unsuccessful payment reasons

If your payment is unsuccessful, then review the following reasons and solutions.
