Setting sale prices for products

When you put a product on sale for a lower price, you might want your customers to be able to see the original price, so they see the price comparison. To show a sale price in your online store, your product details need to include a sale price and the original price, called thecompare atprice.
Displaying sale prices
When you set a compare at price, the product listing updates on your online store to show that the item is on sale. The way that a sale price is shown depends on the theme that your online store is using, for example, you might see aSalelabel on the product image. Typically, the way that sale prices are shown depends on whether:
- your product has variants at different prices
- the item is a single-variant product, or its variant prices are identical
Images for sale items with variants at different prices
For a product with variants whose prices are not identical, the lowest sale price is indicated.
Sale prices for single-variant products or products with identically-priced variants
For a single-variant product, or a product whose variant prices are all identical, the original and sale prices are shown as a comparison.
Set a compare at price for a product
Steps:
From your Shopify admin, go toProducts.
Click the name of a product.
In thePricingsection, set theCompare at priceto the product's original price.
Set thePriceof the product to your new sale price.
ClickSave.
From theShopify app, tapProducts.
Tap the product that you want to put on sale.
From the product details screen, set theCompare at priceto the product's original price.
Set thePriceof the product to your new sale price.
TapSave.
From theShopify app, tapProducts.
Tap the product that you want to put on sale.
From the product details screen, set theCompare at priceto the product's original price.
Set thePriceof the product to your new sale price.
Tap the check mark to save your product.
Set aCompare atprice for a variant
Steps:
Select a product from theProductspage.
Scroll down to theVariantssection.
Find a variant you want to put on sale, and clickEdit.
In thePricingsection, set theCompare at pricefield to the product's original price.
Set thePriceof the product to your new sale price.
ClickSave.
From theShopify app, tapProducts.
Tap the product that you want to put on sale.
UnderVariants, tap the variant that you want to put on sale.
From the variant details screen, set theCompare at priceto the product's original price.
Set thePriceof the product to your new sale price.
TapSave.
